Our

Story

Lumberjack Food Co. was founded by 2nd generation lumberjack Steve Bellor who was practically born in the woods. Steve’s parents started the family logging business in the late 1970’s to fill two needs, survival during the oil embargo and to help hard working families heat their homes during Michigan’s harsh winters when gas was in limited supply. The young company could not afford all of the large machinery required so manual labor it was, working anywhere from 12-18 hours a day 7 days a week was pretty normal but with the gas market recovering and manual help becoming harder to find for this type of work the company eventually closed its doors in the late 1990’s. Steve never forgot those long hours and grew a strong appreciation for the original lumberjacks of the 1800’s. The Lumberjack Food Company pays tribute to all of the lumberjacks of yester year and all of the lumberjacks still working those long hard hours today, the trees they fell help build this great nation.

Thank you!
